About Pre-Teens
“At this age [9–12], in contrast to adolescence, girls still want to know their parents and hear what they think. You are the influential ones if you want to be. Girls, now, want to hear your point of view and find out how you got to be what you are and what you are doing. They like their fathers and mothers to be interested in what they’re doing and planning. They like to know what you think of their thoughts.”
Chess, Stella; Whitbread, Jane
And if memory serves me correctly, all that will soon change. I worked with a lot of girls in this age group while volunteering at Jamie and Britt’s school. As soon as a lot of the girls hit 13 years of age… suddenly, they developed a mind and will of their own. Come to think of it, I think it was more around 12 years of age when this occurred… at least in our school.
