Are your kids active enough??

Active Start for Healthy Kids: Activities, Exercises, and Nutritional TipsI have to admit, life has been getting in the way of exercise in our family, but after reading some of the items on the list, we really need to get working on getting ourselves and our kids more active. It doesn’t look as if waiting until the weekend arrives is good enough. Here’s just a sampling of what I found on the topic.

“# Exercise may be just as important to bone growth in children as milk

# Physical activity in adolescence has an important role in reducing the risk of osteoporosis later in life by enhancing peak bone mass

# When more time is dedicated to physical education, children’s academic performance does not suffer

# Moderate to vigorous physical activity favourably enhances skill performance in classroom functions such as reading, arithmetic, memorization and categorization

# Classroom benefits associated with regular physical activity include improved concentration, enhanced problem solving abilities, improved self-concept and improved creativity ”

I for one did not know about exercise was that important to your bones. See, we can learn something new every day. What are you going to do with your kids today to get them off the couch??
