Camp Weary Parent - Winter in July
Did someone say its hot outside? Then come cool off with Camp Weary Parent as we pretend it is winter in July this week.
Build an Igloo (or two)
- Check out these simple instructions (and cute photo) of an igloo and penguins made from everyday craft supplies.
- I love these edible igloos that are even somewhat healthy and kids of any age can make them - you need half and apple or orange, peanut butter or marshmallow fluff, and some mini marshmallows.
- Want to test your kids building skills? Use a little bit of icing, sugar cubes and coconut to build igloos that rock.
Snowball Fight
- Make simple snowballs by scooping vanilla ice cream into balls. Place the ice cream balls on a cookie sheet and refreeze. Roll in shredded coconut and enjoy. Or take it a step further and build snowmen out of the snow balls and decorate.
- Pick up a variety of white styrofoam balls from the craft store and use toothpicks as connectors and build your own snowmen.
- Steve Spangler Science has some cool snow projects, experiments, and fake snow products, too, that will inspire science lovers.
Stop back in tomorrow as we add more winter in July activities. Or visit the Camp Weary Parent page for more themes, projects and ideas.
