Food Shopping Makes Parents Weary
“Grocery stores and shopping trips can turn toddlers into little monsters. Here’s how to make this weekly outing less stressful and more enjoyable for both of you.”
I don’t know if my sisters and I were little monsters, but more often than not, Dad was put in charge of us while Mom shopped. I can still remember the games of Eye Spy we played from the backseat of the car. That man had to have the patience of a saint! And Eye Spy… he was good at it!
But if you have to take your little darlings into the store with you, give them something to do. Even Eye Spy made the list. And when your little darlings are all grown up, they will know a little about food shopping. The stories I could tell about sending Jamie to the supermarket for skim milk and what he would come with. As long as it was in a bag, he thought that was good enough. He didn’t realize that there were so many different varieties of milk to choose from, let alone the prices… which he always managed to pick the most expensive!

I forgot about playing eye spy….I am glad you have a good memory about things like that.
It is funny, but my kids never acted up at stores or restaurants. They knew they were expected to behave or we would leave, simple as that.
I don’t think that we were bad a kids in the stores, dad probably didn’t want be in the stores while mom shopped, so we probably were there to keep him company. I am sure we enjoyed it also.
