French Dinner Party Birthday
Yesterday my daughter was a guest at her friend’s 10th birthday - let’s call her Annie. Annie and her Mom decided to have a French Dinner Party as her theme.
The invitations were cute - they were simple postcards made on the computer with the Paris skyline and all the party details. The invitations requested that the girls dress up and bring a something “French” for a game. We hunted high and low, but ended up finding a really cute tin lunchbox/purse at 5 Below that was light brown with travel designs on it and it said “Bon Voyage”. According to my daughter, this was the hot item in their White Elephant game.
When we got to the party Annie’s Mom had set up two round tables with chairs and decorated the room to look like a French restaurant. Each girl had a name plate at her seat and they each got mini salt and pepper shakers to take home.
Annie’s Dad was dressed up as a Chef and he did all the cooking, too. The girls dined on French Onion soup, salad, Ham and Cheese Crossaints, Au Gratin Potatoes, and finished up with mini Cheesecakes, Fruit Tarts, and Creme Brulees for dessert.
They played the White Elephant gift exchange and did a decoupage craft. Annie gave them each a cute pink poodle for coming. Overall, the party was a success.

That is so sweet! I love themed birthday parties and that one is a great idea. I have a seven year old daughter who has been learning French since she was five years of age, so that could be the next party idea for her! My next party theme is ‘Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends!’ My son is turning three in one week’s time and Thomas is his absolute favourite.

We are having a french themed birthday party this weekend for our 8 year old. We are only having 5 of her close friends so we can really make it special. We are planning on having Nicoise salad, Mini Croissant sandwiches and tea sandwiches. For dessert, mini chocolate eclairs, and creme puffs we found them in the freezer section of the supermarket. We are going to give the girls french manicures, and make beaded bracelets with little charms of either a purse, high heeled shoe or cell phone) all found at the craft store. Upon arrival each girl will choose a french name, and write their own name tags decorated with french themed rubber stamps. We decorated the living room and dining room in Pink and Black with wire eiffel towers adorned with matching ribbon all found at the Flower mart as the center pieces and Black poodle silhouttes made from paper card stock with stick on rhinestones for a collar. We used pink table cloths and plenty of black and pink netting as decoration on the tables. This year we decided to nix the pinata and instead
create a Bon Bon shoppe display on a side table with old fashioned clear glass candy jars filled with pink and black candy ( i.e. Black licorice vines, pink jelly bellies, salt water taffy and chocolate bars that I will rewrap with pink polka paper to match the color scheme and paper plates.) The girls can choose what they want and bag it with cello bags. This will be their party favor.
