Here’s To All Parents Who Sacrifice Sleep For Sports Practices
I am sitting in the lobby of the Ice Rink. It is just after 7 am on a Saturday morning and my son has practice. YIKES. My alarm went off at 5:45 am this morning and I so wanted to roll over and go back to sleep. Getting up that early wasn’t my son’s first choice either, but given the choice of sleep or hockey practice, he found it pretty easy to get up.
Ice hockey falls into the same category as year round swimming - gawd awful early practices are the norm. It’s the only time the ice or pool are available. I salute all the parents who adjust their sleep schedules and get up at the crack of dawn to get their young athletes to practices, games and events. Its not always easy, but your children do appreciate it (even if they won’t tell you now).
Thanks to the wonders of wireless Internet, I don’t really mind being the one to bring my son to Saturday morning hockey. Plus it is the only time during the week that I am near a Starbucks and can justify springing for a nice hot latte.

Wow. And here I was wondering how I was going to manage work, school and swimming lessons at 4pm!
