High School Musical 2 - Can Disney Do It Again?
When Disney’s original movie High School Musical debuted this past winter, I don’t really think Disney had any idea of how popular the show was about to become. Apart from the normal previews on the Disney Channel, there wasn’t too much other pre-HSM hype. But, High School Musical was a SMASH hit and the marketing folks at Disney couldn’t just let all of that potential go to waste!
So, High School Musical 2 is scheduled to air on Friday, August 17th. Will Disney strike gold again? Can a sequel ever capture the magic of the original? The Disney team must think so - the pre-HSM2 hype, marketing and merchandising has been in full-swing all summer! The soundtrack is being released tomorrow and the sheer amount of HSM2 merchandise targeted at the tween fans is stunning. Here are just a few of the HSM2 items I have already seen:

I think Disney will hit a homer on this one. They are doing some unique advertising. I ran across a site that Wal-Mart sponsors that offers parents the opportunity to schedule wake-up calls from the High School Musical stars (hsm2wakeupcall.com). The hype about HSM2 is positive.
It should be as great a success as the first.

I thought that you might like to know about this free wake up call service where your kids can get a wake up call from their favorite star of high school musical either Ashley Tisdale or Corbin Bleu.
