How to Take Children Grocery Shopping
“Juggling a shopping list, coupons and a shopping cart with a dragging wheel is frustrating enough. Add a couple of kids to the scene and you have a first-class stress creator. Plan ahead and make grocery shopping easier than usual.”
Actually, in our house, I don’t remember the kids ever wanting to go grocery shopping, but there are a lot of great tips if you have no choice in the matter. This would probably appeal to home schooling parents too. The shopping trip turns into a lesson!

The one that cracks me up is the “leave the children at home.” That would have been nice, but doesn’t work when you’re a single parent! During the “hell years” of grocery shopping I was the sole parent of my four daughters. We made it, and even had fun at times, singing songs, etc.
The one biggest thing towards making them well behaved was not giving any attention to temper tantrums. Just ignore them. Let them go. Walk on down the aisle. They figured out that it doesn’t pay, and that was that.
Though the checkouts were the worst, especially if there was a problem with an item that held things up. Then it was just breathe in–breathe out–try to get through this. And a reward–chocolate, beer, whatever–when I got home (for me; not for the kids:))
