Protecting Teens From the Sun
A nationwide survey of teenagers, shows that while 80% of them understand that sun damage to the skin can cause problems such as skin cancer, they continue for the most part to be sun worshipers. Many report getting a sunburn last summer.
As parents we should be good examples to our kids and use sunscreen (SPF 30 or above) any time we go outdoors. Urge them to limit their sun exposure. While it still remains rare, there has been an increase in the number of melanoma cases reported in young people. Melanoma is an often deadly form of skin cancer.
Stay safe this summer.
