Real Parents Dealing With Real Issues
Where do you get your best parenting advice? I find that my friends and respected colleagues who have been through it or are going through it now have by far the best advice. That being said, here are some of the real parenting issues some of my friends are discussing this week:
- Rory at Hamelife has a great list of 15 Ways Parents Can Help Their Children Through The Turmoil Of Teenage Years
- V-grrrl discusses what it means to be gay with her 9 year old. If you haven’t discovered V-grrrl yet, you absolutely MUST.
- Denise advises us on what to do when your child comes home with a hickie.
- Our Thinking’s Middle School Tips for Moms is also very helpful.
- Teen Zone News is talking about how to deal with preteen dating and relationships.
I often wonder if things really are easier now that my kids are older! I’m not changing diapers anymore, but I am dealing with the constant changing moods and this is often more difficult. What are some of the issues you are dealing with right now?

Thanks for the kind words.
I haven’t read Denise’s post yet but it reminds me of when I was a church youth group leader, had all my nice Christian kids on a retreat, and one of the girls shows up at breakfast with not one, not two, but multiple hickies trailing down to under her shirt.
Um, Hon, there are BETTER ways to open a conversation with your youth group leader on sex…Repeat after me “And lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from Whoremones. Amen!”

V - I love your warped sense of humor! Just love it. I remember being on church youth group events - always an adventure.

Thanks Char! I appreciate you adding the Thinking Forward link to your list of notable resources. I added your post to our blog as well. What an incredible world we live in!
Enjoy the day!

Joe
