Should Nickelodeon Cancel Zoey101?
In light of the news of Jamie Lynn Spears teen pregnancy, there is now talk of Nickelodeon canceling the 4th season of the very popular Zoey101 series or incorporating a lesson about teen pregnancy in to an upcoming episode.
While the whole topic is rather uncomfortable for most parents to discuss with their kids, the fact of the matter is, we need to be talking! If Nickelodeon cancels the series, what message are they sending to kids and their parents?
So, I’d like your input. What should Nickelodeon do? Cancel it or no?

I’m thinking that Nick will have to cancel the show because when it’s all said and done this situation is all gonna come down to money…
#1 — Jamie Lynn is a 16 year-old star. Fame comes with some extra baggage, including sponsers and licensors who back her with millions of dollars and rely on her show’s wholesome image to keep them in the black.
#2– Her primary audience is 8 to 14 year oId girls who are still under their parents control. So now parents are pissed because they have to explain to their 8-year olds why “Zoey” is pregnant when she’s not much older than they are. Those parents are not going to be happy if Jamie Lynn simply goes back to being Zoey after that.
#3–Part of Nickelodeon’s appeal is that its a channel parents trust. They can’t afford to lose that trust (and by default get the Nick-plug pulled in millions of US homes) by allowing Jamie Lynn to simply return to the show after this.
If Nick wants to keep it’s loyal following of parents and it’s lucrative following of sponsers and licensors, (and who ever else is getting a piece of the wholesome Nick-pie) they HAVE to do something.
However, they could also opt to bring in a new Zoey.

I don’t know what the right answer is. I do have a question for her mother though . . . Why the heck were you letting your 16-year-old child live with her boyfriend?

If they don’t cancel the show, I will call my satelite tv carrier and cancel Nick. I have no control over Nick’s choice but I do have control over my purchasing. I will not purchase magazines with either “Spears” child or watch them. I don’t think they belong in the public eye. They should fade from public view at this point. I do not want to be part of feeding this familie’s need for attention by watching them.
The entire family has very poor judgment.

It’s a family channel. It can’t have actors on there whose lives have to be explained. (Thats my ‘adult’ reason. I won’t go into the nondefensible one.)

I’m not sure how I feel, but I would be angry if they keep her on pregnant to teach a lesson. I don’t want Nick teaching those lessons or one of the Spears girls. I already have enough issues with how much kissing & boyfriends/girlfriends are already on Nick & Disney. I don’t need my kids seeing Zoey pregnant.

I agree with susan smith on this one. I wouldnt want to see jamie lynn pregnany in the show what a signal that would send out to the young teens,” it’s OK to get pregnant at 16 by a 19year old,” I think NOT! That is the problem with the world today, too many babies having babies, and where are the parents in all this, they werent taking care of brittney or giving her sound advice and now the 16 year old did a “whoops I did it again too” take these two girls out of the limelight, and lets see teens on TV with Morals and values out there and just saying no doesnt just apply to drugs these days either.!

Zoey101 is a great show to watch. Jamie’s real life should not interfere with the show. Everyone has a life outside of work and she should not lose her job just because she has a life!!!! Where would that put everyone else on the show(cast and crew). The show must go on!!!!

they shouldnt take it off i mean everyone makes mistakes and they really cant get a new zoey becuse the show wouldnt seem right with out jamie lynne. i don’t care what other people say yes it was stupid for her getting pregnet but its her life i say KEEP ZOEY101 ON THE AIR!!!!!!!

Zoey101 is my fave show on nick sure you can cancel it but what good is that the little kids will cry and you still have to explain what she did wrong.We all know it was stupid but so if shes pregnant then shes pregnant her parents are thinking about her getting the baby killed anyway.think if you want it canceled then thats your STUPID problem but I say LET ZOEY101 STAY ON NICK.

Zoey 101 is a great show. The only reason why they put it back on air was because “Goodbye Zoey” has got a lot of good reveiws. I personally think that teaching a lesson on teen pregnancy is wonderful idea, Since Zoey 101 is on “Teen Nick” I really only watch Teen Nick because its within my age group. And if your complaining about your children watching it you should think about why they put the show under teen nick because its for teens. And lastly I just want to say Jamie Lynn Spears and Zoey are two different people so you can pass on judgement on Zoey!

zoey101 is a great show! i love it, and i am fourteen. most ‘children’ my age know about teen pregnancy, drugs, and a lot of other issues. It may not seem noticeable to some parents, but kids know what is going on currently in the world. Jamie should not be penalized for making choices in her life, and they should not effect her carrier. she did not decide to become pregnant,and because she has we should all just give her space. If she were any other girl people would just say, ‘well that is very unfortunate’. But because she is seen on television, everyone considers it as a catastrophe. a sixteen year old girl should not have pressure from the world to be perfect. it is not right for her to have to give up what she has worked so hard for just because of an event in her life.
it is my favorite show, and to the parents, explaining WHY it was canciled will probably be more difficult that just TALKING to your children.
let the show stay!

ok.. first of all i dont think that the show should get cancelled…what are you trying to teach children who make mistakes..that they should be afraid and hide…all that results from this bad psychology are suicides and more abortions..as well as secrets and lies…a society based on fear has never proven succesful…honestly people who are angry about “having to explain why she is pregnant” are the parents who lack the strenght to talk to their children about such matters…when you want to prevent alcohol drugs and sex abuse…the best way is to talk about it not to keep it from them..you want to prevent them from getting the wrong information..(that is why schools now have sex-ed programs) would you rather have your children getting the wrong information from their peers or getting correct information so if they are thinking about doing something at least they used their full judgement…for the people who say they will pull the plug on nickelodeon..let me just tell you that you are acting in a somewhat childish matter…what are you God to judge people so harshley..r u perfect? if you made a mistake would you like it to be magnified to the world..honestly is the only reason you are reacting like this to lynn because she is the one who was caring the baby..at least she had the courage of keeping and having him upon the publics critism..what about the fathers name..what are the possibilities that he may lose his job for becoming a father!?! obviously not as high..most people dont even know his name! what are you trying to to teach the generations to be sexist…well i think that she should be allowed to have a personal life…besides Zoey and Jamie are two different people..Simply they are not the same people…Everyone deserves a second chance or forgiveness…what would people do without these two things…And lastly think about the joy your child/ren have brought you and how much love them..and then think if you would have let them go so you didn’t have to go through public shame… !!!!What if the child she was carrying was yours… what if the child you were criticising was your own.. WOULD THAT SWAY YOUR OPINION!!!!

ok so she got pregnant so what yeah i know she sopposed to be this role modle for kids but you can’t help what happen to you i love her show sometmes it has a lot of thing on there that help me with situations that i get my self into and when i say this i’m not just speaking for my self i love Zoey 101 is funny and a great show for me and my friends to just sit and watch.

Zoey101..is a great show girls make mistakes in their life we all have y blame 1 girl when there are a million doing the same thing…yes she is a role model for childern..but her show was under "teen" not "child"…if the parents didnt want their kids seeing it then they shouldnt be watch "teen"…Zoey101 is wicked..it should of stayed on
