Teaching Your Kids to Cook

The Kid's Cookbook: A Great Book for Kids Who Love to Cook! (Williams-Sonoma Lifestyles)Well, coming from someone who can’t, maybe this is a really good topic for this morning. In our family, G does all the cooking. When we were first married, I did all the cooking, but then somewhere down the line, his British palate decided he couldn’t take anymore and decided that it might be best if he did it. So, I let him.

Jamie, our oldest took more after me. When he moved into his own house, he had a lot to learn. Luckily he met a very nice girl who took pity on him and loves to cook. Britt on the other hand, takes after her father. She loved nothing more than to help him with dinner as she was growing up. And it didn’t hurt that one of her first jobs was prep in a local restaurant. Originally, she was to prepare the salad ingredients for the day, but Jimmy (the chef) noticed that she had a flare for cooking and began to train her to do more and more.

Did I luck out or what?? So, did she become a chef?? No, she went to college to learn how to design gardens and now does that full time. So, I have a husband who likes to cook, a daughter who likes to cook AND take care of our garden.

Life is good lol… And Britt, if you are reading this, you don’t have to announce to the world that I once burned the cover of a kid’s cookbook by leaving it on the top of the stove. Yes, I turned on the wrong element. And yes, I should have known better, ;)

Just something else for that book you are writing about me!
