Teaching your kids to make pancakes
Come on, admit it, wouldn’t you like your kids to know how to make you breakfast on the weekends?? You have put in how many years providing for them and now it’s their turn to wait on you. Don’t you simply love the idea??
Anyway, before you let them near the stove, you will have to walk them through some of the safety rules but when you think that they are old enough to take it on, pancakes might be a good starting place. (You can go with a mix if that is easier.)
So, lets turn our attention to the griddle. It should always be heated before you use it and a good test to know when it is hot enough is when a few drops of water bounces on the surface. If it’s not hot enough, the water will just sit there and do nothing! If it immediately evaporates, that means the griddle is too hot.
So, there is today’s lesson on cooking lol… Britt is going to love this one. She really doesn’t think that I know anything about cooking. And why would I share my secret when both she and her dad have a passion for it??

My Mom got me a fantastic cookbook a few years back, and I still use it all the time! I refer to it EVERY time I cook a chicken or turkey, lol. It’s meant for teens, and although I’m not a teen, I like it because it has a lot of good basic recipes in it, for when you don’t have a lot of stuff in the pantry. It also has basic instructions like the best way to chop certain vegetables, and a good conversion table.
It’s called Clueless in the Kitchen. Here’s the Amazon.ca link:
