The Back to School Fashions are Here
Since we did our big 4th of July gathering on Sunday, we took things pretty low key yesterday. My daughter had been looking for some fun ballet flats - you know the kind that are kind of a cross between ballet flats and tennis shoes - the kind that are too cute on a 9 year old’s foot? She found some at Old Navy.com that she really liked so off to Old Navy we went.
The first thing I notice as we walked in the door at Old Navy is that all the summer clothes have been moved to the back of the store already - and they are 50% off. Yep, they are gearing up for back-to-school already. There were short sleeved, baby doll sweaters, layered long sleeve tops and plenty of jeans to go around.
Of course, since we do not live in a large metropolitan area, our Old Navy is small and they did not have the shoes my daughter wanted. I decided to take a short drive down the road to the girls new favorite - Justice Just for Girls (owned by Limited Too). Same deal there! Plenty of plaid scooters and matching tops, capris, jeans and other fall clothes. The back to school messenger bags and locker kits took center stage in the aisle, too.
So, back on the quest for these shoes - which by the way, I like much better than the high-heeled 70’s throw back sandals and flip flops they wanted for summer. Justice had a really good selection and both girls found a pair they liked - one pair are brown with pink hearts and the other pair are red with white polka dots. Plus they were having a buy one get one free sale on the summer fashions, so we picked up a few items to help us get through the rest of the summer in style.

I’m not exactly shopping for back to school clothes, but I do plan on going and getting a few things this weekend with all of the 4th of July Sales! I know Lord and Taylor is having a sale until the July 9th which I need to take advantage of. I need some nicer clothes and I find it so much easier to shop when I know I’m getting good deals.

I can’t believe how early “back to school” stuff is out this year. My kids finished school at the end of June and “back to school” merchandise was on the shelves while they were still in school - they weren’t even done with the previous year yet!
