The Birth Order

by SP on July 11th, 2006

sisters“If you’re the first-born in the family, ever notice how you just can’t help but offer helpful, if unsolicited, advice to your younger sibs? If you’re a middle child, in between taking orders from your bossy older sis, do you always find yourself settling family arguments? And we all know what the youngest spends her time doing: goofing off and causing trouble. It’s just common sense: the oldest child is responsible, the middle child is diplomatic, the baby of the family is the rebel – and the only child is spoiled for life. But is there any truth to these stereotypes? Does birth order really affect your personality?”

I just read over the traits of the first born… which I am, and while I see some similarities, I’m not bossy!! At least I don’t think I am. And the sister who is the middle child… now she’s the bossy one lol… I can say that because she just went on vacation today ;)

So, is there anything to this birth order thing?? And if you think that there is, will this change how you bring up each child??

I am the eldest and I am kind of bossy. LOL

My circumstances are a bit different…I have two middle children (the twins) and the youngest has Ds so birth order would not be something that I would give much (if any) thought to in raising them. I just try to make it through each day and have very little (if any) “thought” by the end of each day!!! *smile*

I am definitely the middle child. Always trying to fix relationships. *sigh* When will I learn that they will never be perfect? (Unless, of course, they listen to my unsolicited advice. I have a bit of the oldest in me, too.) :)

Lol… okay so I got caught out. I was hoping that you were too exhausted from your vacation to check out Weary Parents for a week or so at least!

Hope you had a great time… middle child ;)
