The Influence of the Bad Girls
This week’s edition of Newsweek magazine features a very interesting (and long) article called “Girls Gone Wild: What Are Celebs Teaching Kids?”
Every generation has had it’s share of rebels, scandalous behavior and the ensuing cries of outrage, but are Lindsay, Paris and Nicole taking it too far? Better yet, are our kids buying it?
My daughters love Lindsay Lohan (in her early years), could care less about Britney, and don’t know who Paris and Nicole even are. Then again, they are just now hitting the tween stage and think Hannah Montana and Ashley Tisdale are the coolest.
As parents we have a responsibility to constantly remind our children that what they see in the media is not “real life” for the masses. We have to have the loudest voice in their conscious.
So, what do you think? Do celebrities have a strong influence in our children’s futures? Check in with SuperNanny Rules for more of the discussion, too.
