Trends in Teen Drug Use
Interesting story in the paper today looks at how teen drug use is changing. The use of illegal drugs such as cocaine is down but now teens are using (and abusing) prescription medications they are finding in their own homes. Use of prescription drugs in high across the country and a survey has found a new trend of kids using their parents prescription meds on the sly. The survey found more abuse of medications such as Vicodin, OxyContin or Ritalin among teens than use of illegal drugs.
Parents; it is very important that you keep your medications secure and educate your children about these meds. Kids may not realize how dangerous they can be, and many may be just as addictive as some street drugs.
