Webkinz Invasion
This past summer my girls caught the Webkinz bug. Since acquiring the first Webkinz Polar Bear, the collection has now grown to more than 10 of these furry stuffed animals.

Each of my daughters has a few Webkinz and they are often spotted on the computer playing Balloon Darts, the Wheel of Wow or decorating a room for the online persona of their pets. They ooh and ahh over the exclusive items and wheel and deal with each other for prizes and such. While I am sure this is just a passing phase, it is a cute one and I have to hand it to Ganz for bringing the stuffed animals to life in a unique Web 2.0 world.
PlayLibrary has more pictures of cute Webkinz, too, as her kids are just as crazy about them as mine are.

So you didn’t get bitten by the bug at all? I have to admit that at first I would just ‘help’ my daughter by playing some of the games, but before I knew it I was the one who thought we needed a “Kooky Scientist” room! Yikes! Lots of moms have fallen pray… ! I wonder if they knew that would happen?

My daughter loves them too. She has a chihuahua named Jack. It’s a great idea, and an adorable website.

I have to hand it to my daughter for getting me into this new toy craze. Though she introduced me to webkinz, I’m the one responsible for introducing her to TyGirlz. I actually work with Ty Inc., so when I heard they were releasing these dolls that come with secret codes to unlock a virtual world online - I just knew my daughter would be thrilled… I know I was! I wouldn’t pass up the chance for us to spend some quality time together. You can see what it’s all about at http://www.tygirlz.com

We don’t have a webkinz in our family but are getting the pressure from our daughter whose circle of friends have one by one become enraptured. Here is my question — if you use pretend money (for which you must gamble to get after you run out of the first $2000) to buy pretend food and decorate pretend rooms and homes, why can’t you just PRETEND with a regular plain old stuffed animal, and create a world of your own? I understand that if you don’t go online enough, your webkinz gets sick and if you have a garden, it dies for lack of water, etc… I would rather my daughter water with real water and weed with real tools the garden right outside her real window. PLEASE OFFER FEEDBACK — I AM LOOKING FOR A REASON TO CAVE AND BUY A WEBKINZ FOR MY DAUGHER. BUT RIGHT NOW IT SEEMS LIKE A WASTE OF HER BEAUTIFUL MIND AND IMAGINATION.
