Wii Family Fun

by char on December 27th, 2007

WiiThe last thing my kids expected on Christmas Day was to get a Wii. After all, we all know that they are next to impossible to get. Luckily my husband had gotten ours way back in October and we just let the kids think that there were none to be had. After all the gifts were opened we told the kids there was one more gift and sent them on a hunt for it. When they finally found it, they were shocked.

Once we got it set up, the fun began. We have four controllers so it could become a real group game. We started with Wii Sports and did family bowling. Our 5 year old daughter is now the reigning bowling queen - she beat everyone, every game! Even my Mom (the kids’ Grandmother) was playing and laughing the whole time. The baseball game is pretty tough, but tennis and boxing are definitely good ways to get that heart rate up!

The kids also had fun with the Carnival Games Wii which includes activities like ring toss, basketball toss, and other standard carnival games.  When we picked up some of the extra remotes they came bundled as Wii Play with Wii Remote which has games like ping pong and pool.

After the kids all went to bed, the grown ups continued to bowl well into the night! The game system is expensive and hard to find, but when I think of how much money we normally spend to take the family to the movies or bowling, the Wii will “pay” for itself quickly this winter. Family bowling night will be taking place regularly in our living room.

After refusing a video game for many years I finally broke down and permitted the Wii after I read that some school districts are using Dance Dance Revolution in their gym classes.

We got a Wii for my son for Christmas too. They were hard to find, we had him convinced there were none to be had (a truth).

My husband and I had to give it a try before Christmas (just to be sure everything worked, LOL). We played Wii Sports and had a blast! I like the Wii games because they get to exercise more than one or two fingers while they’re playing.

The Wii is a great hit. although the only game we really play is wii sports. It keeps us busy for hours at a time. Although Tennis is probably the best, nothing beats watching one of my friends attempting to play the boxing game. way too funny!

We got the Wii last Jan, and we love it. Our current favorite games are Dance Dance Revolution (it has a work out mode) and High School Musical Sing IT! All of the games are fun, and I guess they have one out now called Play ground games or something like that. It has 4 square, dodgeball, and stuff like that. We’re going to try it New Years Day at my SisInLaw’s tomorrow, after our Wii Bowling Tournament.
